Nic Carlton-Smith

DIRECTOR AND LIFE PLANNER

Nic is the heart, soul and mind behind Carlton Smith Private Wealth. It’s Nic who will speak to you about your aims, needs, desires and goals for your life after work, and will ask you all the important questions to help unlock your plan for your future. He’s also the one who provides the answers to effectively use your financial assets and achieve the results you want.

After establishing himself as a successful agent at Co-operative Insurance, Nic set up his own business to provide rigorous independent financial advice and help improve the situation of everyone he works with. Relationships mean a lot to Nic, and he is as dedicated to his staff’s development as much as he is to his clients.

When not helping people to realise their vision for the future, Nic feeds his lifelong passion for cars and often takes part in racing events from karting to vintage sports cars. Away from the track, he spends time with his family, cycling, scuba diving and skiing in Winter. Nic is also a member of the Christian Fellowship and a keen property developer, having so far renovated two family homes with a third in progress.

Charles Rogers

SENIOR PARAPLANNER

You might speak to Charles when you need help with technicalities, be it in connection with our myWealth app, portfolio management or the cash-flow forecasting software. Equally at home with asset allocation modelling, modern portfolio theory, fund research and online ecosystems, Charles will be able to answer any question you have about your portfolio management.

From Colchester, Charles studied at Braintree College and the Chartered Insurance Institute in London before starting in the financial services industry in 2012. He joined us in March 2018 after being involved with several innovative businesses dealing with blockchain development and trust management platforms, managing communities and enabling research.

When not analysing fund performance, Charles can be found enjoying the gym, beer and time with friends (although maybe not all at the same time!).

Charlie Machin

ASSISTANT PARAPLANNER

You might talk to Charlie when you have any general queries or admin questions, or need help with the myWealth app. You’re also likely to meet him when he greets you on a visit to our office! Always on the case and calm under pressure, Charlie enjoys working closely with clients and seeing how our work has positively affected their lives.

Currently training to be a Paraplanner, Charlie joined us in August 2017 as an apprentice and completed a 1-year course in Business Administration. He is now working towards a level 4 diploma in Regulated Financial Advice, which he looks forward to completing in the coming years.

Outside of the office, Charlie enjoys competitive karting at weekends and is a keen follower of motorsport in general. He also likes most outdoor activities, as well as spending time with his family.

Pauline Dudley

OFFICE MANAGER

Pauline is the rock around which our office is built. She keeps our operation organised, smooth-running and generally ship-shape, and ensures our behaviour is exemplary.

Pauline has over thirty years experience in the financial services industry, working in accountancy and insurance since the 1980s, with hands-on insight into the evolution of the sector since that time. She joined us in 2007, and has been a steady hand on the rudder ever since.

Away from the office, Pauline supports local charities, having retired from her local parish council after five years of service. She is also active in teaching arts and crafts classes and enjoys singing along to a diverse range of music from Guns ‘n’ Roses to Westlife!

Jenny

SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR

Our office would never function without Jenny. You might speak to her if you ever need instant help with any kind of administrative request, and she is always on hand to collate reports, respond to enquiries or locate important paperwork (which doesn’t take long due to her high level of organisation).

Jenny was born and raised in our town of Stowmarket, and studied Psychology with Criminology at Hull University. After graduating, she spent a year travelling and working in New Zealand before returning to Suffolk and joining us in June 2015 as our senior administrator.

Away from the office, Jenny gets involved with her local church, likes to spend time with friends and family, and enjoys joining her husband for walks around the Suffolk countryside.

Elizabeth Walton

SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR

You might talk to Elizabeth if you phone our office with an enquiry, although we all pitch in to answer the phone! Elizabeth is likely to be your first point of contact on a day-to-day basis, she is expert at turning around any quick query and, if she cannot help, will waste no time referring you to the person who can.

Elizabeth has worked in the financial sector for over fifteen years. She joined us in July 2017 as an administrator, having previously held various similar positions in banks and building societies in Suffolk.

Outside of work Elizabeth enjoys long walks in the nearby countryside with her springer spaniel, travelling, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
